Apparently Aemilius Paullus, who wrote Al-Qaeda crippled in battle with US , is too naive to understand what the dynamics of the Muslim world and its realms are.
If body counts based on the killed or captured are a measure of victories, than the world will see an intensification of this so-called war on terror propagated by US and it allies.
Osama bin Laden does not need to launch another attack against the US and its allies - he is already winning the battle for the hearts and minds of the Muslim world. Can you imagine what will happen if the whole Muslim decides to unite under one cause, one banner?
Even the Pentagon's Defence Science Board (DSB) has admitted this fact that radical Islamists are winning the propaganda against the US.
I quote: 'The critical problem in American public diplomacy directed toward the Muslim world is not one of 'dissemination of information,' or even one of crafting and delivering the 'right' message.
'Rather, it is a fundamental problem of credibility. Simply, there is none the United States today is without a working channel of communication to the world of Muslims and of Islam. Inevitably, therefore, whatever Americans do and say only serves the party that has both the message and the 'loud and clear' channel: the enemy.'
Thus, to me, the Western nations constant fixation on killing the 'operative' rather than understanding the root cause of the whole problem will only serve to perpetuate the concept of Samuel P Huntington's Clash of Civilizations .
