I read the letter London blasts: An open letter to the killers on how evil terrorists are. How they kill and maim innocent people for causes that Malaysians in London accuse to be evil. I, however, disagree with much of the reasoning on these causes.

Please take this as a sharing of my feelings for the common good and I am in no way belittling the incident that happened in London.

No one (or authority) has the right to kill for any reason.

I wonder if Malaysians in London know how many innocent Afghans have died due to the US invasion. The US invaded to look for Osama bin Laden. Is this a justified reason? Maybe they can share with me their opinion as to how many people have died and continue to die in Afghanistan - innocent people, just like the ones in London. Is it 20 or 30 people or is it 20,000 or 30,000?

America invaded Iraq because they supposedly had weapons of mass destruction. I wonder if they know how many innocent Iraqi people have died, people who had no part in what Saddam Hussein was doing. Maybe they can tell me. Was it 20 or 30 people or was it 200,000 or 300,000 people?

Have you, Malaysians in London, protested to the British or even the Malaysian government? Have you written an open letter to the British or American government or people voicing your concern over the needless deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Violence begets violence. If people of the 'free' world stand by and watch governments of this 'free' world perpetrate acts of violence in the name of the people of the 'free' world, then the people of the 'free' world must be prepared for acts of retribution.

The reasoning of the terrorists, though evil are very logical. In fact, they are the same as the logic of the US and UK governments. 'To remove the evil of Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, I have to attack the countries where they are based and remove them. If 'some' people are killed, it's alright as it is for a 'greater good'.'

The terrorist, of course, cannot take on the military might of the UK, let alone America. So, they do what they do best - they employ hit-and-run tactics ie, guerilla warfare also known as terrorism.

The terrorists cannot kill George W Bush or Tony Blair so the next best target is the people of these countries.

So, my Malaysians in London friends, unless we actively pressure our governments, and especially the governments of America and United Kingdom, I'm afraid we will have to accept the fact that we will continue to be collateral damage in this war on terror.
