I am shocked to read that the judges in the Federal Court have passed judgment over an NGO - the Malaysian Bar - disallowing the body from discussing issues involving the judiciary.
The case in point referred to the discussions pertaining to the conduct of former chief justice Eusoff Chin. If I remember correctly, the discussion related to inter alia corruption.
This decision is a black eye for law and justice and certainly for the independence of the judiciary. Judges are not above the law and if the conduct of any judge hints of corruption, it is everyone's business, more so members of the legal profession's.
The office of a judge is a public office and that office is one which holds public trust. I think the federal court decision should be revisited by review or by public debate.
