The letter Toyota salesmen and the national language contains so much distortion of facts that it sounds like the old record that is often played by Malay politicians in front of a Malay audience. Lamenting this and that but always putting the blame on others.

Are the SPM 1A to 3A Malay students not good enough for higher education? When has this happened? If this is so, very few Malays will be eligible for matriculation classes. But as we know, 90 percent of matriculation classes are occupied by Malays.

Why are Malays willing to work for 7-Eleven where the basic pay is only RM750? Why don't they work for UMW Toyota as salespersons? Because Toyota only pays RM300. The car salespersons are paid very little and have to work their butts off to get their commissions.

If all Malaysians speak only Bahasa Malaysia, we will have a unified country? The writer must either be dreaming or refusing to meet the challenge of the real world. In the real world, Malays are losing out because they refuse to learn another language. How many of the writer's friends are like him, knowing more than one language? How many Chinese or Indian Malaysians that the writer meets cannot speak BM at all?

Yes, Chinese Indonesians speak Bahasa Indonesia to each other, but they are hardly considered as Indonesians despite losing their Chinese identity. Why do the Indonesians always target their Chinese counterparts whenever violence erupts?

In Iraq, the Shias, Sunnis and the Kurds all speak one language but why are they killing each other? Is a unified religion or language a factor in creating stability as fantasised by the Malay politicians?

As long as the Malays do not wake up and face the world like winners do, they will keep on lamenting.
