Lets all submit our memoranda
Judging by malaysiakini 's news reports on the ISA calamity, I am pleased that some of us would be at the Suhakam headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this April 14.
I am certain of the righteousness of this cause as we need to ensure our safety from state interference when we wish to make complaints to Suhakam. We cannot allow this avenue to be pre-judged by the police as the enforcement arm of the executive, as an act against public order and national security.
I would like to suggest that groups who had prepared various memoranda on the abolishment of the ISA before Suhakam was established, also gather their reports with updates for formal presentation to Suhakam if they have not done so already.
I hope groups like Amnesty International and other civil society groups including individual lawyers would band together to help monitor the Saturday meet-with-Suhakam event to record any interference to our right to peaceful assembly assist in crowd control.
