From a distance, it's difficult to imagine a more stupid and immature approach to dealing with the very small matter of a local chieftain of a fast-dying political party openly uttering racial slurs.

The reactions of Chinese politicians to Ahmad Ismail are completely against their own political interests, not to mention the general interests of all Malaysians.

Umno Penang is out of power. So what if one of their leaders is playing up to the gallery in trying to win more votes for BN in the lead up to the Permatang Pauh by-election? We all know, and have known for decades that it is a game that Umno plays.

So what do Chinese Malaysian politicians expect? That since March 8, such sentiments as expressed by Ahmad will miraculously disappear? How unrealistic is that?

The result of all their politicking now is that an inconsequential Ahmad has hit the political jackpot. The self-righteous accusations and demands for apologies from Chinese Malaysian have directly given much needed fuel and oxygen to the fascist elements within Umno, almost exactly the starting point from which they are hoping to launch a political coup.

If these Umno extremists gain any traction in the future, it will be because the Chinese Malaysian political bodies have been myopic all this while and have not seen that they are doing these extremists the greatest favour that they can ask for.

Umno extremists actually badly need Chinese Malaysians to deride and insult them. The more the merrier. Then they can claim that the Malays need them to be their protectors of race, religion and country.

In fact is they'd rather Chinese groups launched street protests against them - it'll be a huge payday for these fanatical goons if a Chinese politician is brave enough to attempt such an adventure.

Remember, at this moment in Malaysia at least, extremists still have the biggest and ugliest political clout. Chinese Malaysian politicians, especially the erstwhile BN shoe shine boys of their Umno big brothers, would be well-advised to remember this.

So please, for the sake of all of us, save us from all your soap operas. And please don't do more damage to the political future of all Malaysians, including the vast majority of Malays who must be wondering why the Chinese are so sensitive to some racial utterance by an obscure Umno division head who is not even part of the ruling party in Penang.

And by the way, for you Gerakan and MCA politicians, please don't say you are representing the Chinese. You have been rejected by 70 percent of Chinese Malaysians.

At least have the courtesy to feel some shame when you attempt to speak on their behalf. To be honest, the rakyat would rather you would shut up, and accept that you are close to being political dinosaurs.
