Maybe it's just Ramadan when sugar-levels are low. I am surprised that Umno Youth is given the task to monitor and assess the alleged 'anti-government' speeches in campuses.

First of all I am not sure if Umno Youth has honed sufficient skills to discern what is meant by critical thinking which includes identifying the weaknesses or maladministration in the governance of the country.

Remember that time when they frightened concerned Malaysians and their guests at Apcet II? What a complete fiasco.

If we are really, really serious about the future of our youths, Umno Youth must be restrained from policing speech. I believe the university authorities are already armed under the Universities and University Colleges Act. Why do we need Umno Youth trespassing in campuses?

I cannot believe that policing speech in campuses is really the right training ground for would-be statesmen and women. Send them to the poor areas where communities are in need of services and support. Hopefully this experience will knock some sense of accountability and service to people.
