We refer to the breakdown of the Rapid KL Kelana Jaya LRT line during peak hours yesterday evening.

Transit would like to express its sympathy for those passengers who were caught in the service disruption of the Kelana Jaya line. We were made aware by SMS from a ‘Transit Watcher’.

Incidents like this one are rare but frustrating. While Transit is confident that some measures are taken to reduce the frequency of these incidents, we acknowledge that sometimes, things are beyond the control of Rapid KL or other authorities.

It is for this reason that we need better, more complete and effective rapid transit networks to give people alternative routes to reach their destinations.

It is also vital that public transport users have better and greater access to information about service.

In this day and age, when a vast majority of Rapid KL passengers are holding mobile phones, Rapid KL should be making an effort to inform passengers before they even get to the stations that there is a potential disruption of service.

One way to do this is to use free mobile technology like Twitter which can be used to send out bursts of information - to inform people, for example, that the LRT line is disrupted, the bus is delayed etc.

Transit asks that passengers who have experienced any disruption of service on the LRT line or bus routes to please share your feedback with Rapid KL directly and let Transit know by posting details in the comments section of our website .

Transit will also look into setting up an account with Twitter to keep people better informed. We hope that Rapid KL CEO Suffian Baharuddin would direct his staff to do the same for Rapid KL.

We hope that in the very near future, whenever disruptions of service occur, public transport users will be better informed.
