Having turned the tables on BN over its 'liquor exposé' of his previous lifestyle, PKR’s Zaid Ibrahim now faces Round Two of the morality campaign against him.

Aimed yet again at Muslim-Malay voters who make up the majority of voters in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency, the latest attack accuses Zaid of gambling - a practice forbidden in Islam.

The expose was made through BN-friendly blog Pisau.net, which revealed that Zaid owns a race horse named ‘Kelantan’.

NONE Asked to comment, following his ceramah in Ampang Pecah last night, Zaid defiantly admitted to having once owned the horse and stressed that it was during his time in Umno.

"It was a very successful horse and I am very proud of it... but that was before I joined Pakatan," he said, facing the assault head-on.

He was, however, quick to add that owning a race horse is not tantamount to gambling.

"That's the problem with Umno. They don't know the difference between gambling and a sport," he said.

While Zaid may not have placed bets on horses, the value of his horse does depend on its performance on the track and popularity with punters.

As such, in the eyes of some voters, his explanation may not entirely absolve him of allegations of gambling.

Unfazed by revelations

Interestingly, Zaid said he welcomes the recent revelations, calling this a "change in politics".

All public representatives should have to live transparent lives, he said.

azlan He also appeared unfazed by the resignation of Hulu Selangor PKR division treasurer Dr Halili Rahmat yesterday morning.

He said that Halili, who had campaigned for BN in Sungai Buaya last night, had most likely jumped ship due to personal issues and not out of principle as claimed .

Pakatan Rakyat now has five days to turn around the defection and gambling fiasco before the polls on Sunday.
