PKR candidate Zaid Ibrahim has accused his former comrades from the Kota Bharu Umno division, a division he once led, of vote buying in the Hulu Selangor by-election.

hulu selangor by-election 190410 zaid ibrahim walkabout 05 Speaking to reporters during his walkabout at Kuala Kubu Baru this morning, Zaid cynically said that this was a “professional BN tactic” being employed where money to a large number of households.

“I have been told that my enemies from Kota Bharu Umno division are going around badmouthing me and distributing RM500 per family,” he said.

Yesterday, a large contingent of Kelantan Umno campaign workers descended upon Hulu Selangor to campaign against him.

Among others, former Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Ahmad Rostam Ahmad Maher hit out at Zaid for allegedly spending up to RM10 million to campaign for the division chief post many years ago.

Nabbed for carrying 20 sen knife

In another development, PKR Youth deputy chief Fariz Musa and four others revealed that they may be charged tomorrow for contravening the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act 1958.

NONE According to Fariz, he and his party colleagues were arrested because they were in possession of a small craft blade, which cost RM0.20, used to take down campaign banners.

 

“This is our 20 sen weapon. We was charged like terrorist and accused of owning dangerous weapon and explosive item,” he said, while showing a sample of the blade.

 

Earlier today, the police failed to obtain a remand order from the Kuala Kubu Baru magistrate and they were released at about 1.00pm.

However, the police are still pursuing the case and the investigating officer has indicated that the group would be charged tomorrow, said Fariz.
