PAS Perak supports the stand of its spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat that mosques can be used to discuss Islamic politics but not partisan politics.

NONE Party state chief Abu Bakar Hussain said: "Islam is a way of life and politics is a part of it. Mosques have always been used as an avenue to discuss welfare, economics, education and politics."

He was speaking at the Perak PAS Youth Wing's 27th AGM at the party's Markas Tarbiyah Air Kuning in Taiping this yesterday.

However he agreed with the Selangor Sultan's stand that mosques should not be used for partisan politics to attack each other as mosques are built to unite all Muslims.

Recently the Selangor Sultan expressed unhappiness with certain quarters who he said, had used mosques to issue political propaganda, and he wanted this practice stopped.

However, Abu Bakar argued that PAS had been denied access to public places like school halls and community halls to reach out to the people and the party has no other choice but to make use of mosques to spread their messages to Muslims.

He accused Umno of using mosques to propagate its political agenda while at the same time blaming opposition parties like PAS of politicising the Muslims' places of worship.

To counter the false political propaganda of Umno, he added, the youth wing must show high morals and integrity, and display creativity, commitment and quality of service to capture the minds and hearts of the Malay community, especially the youth.

Meanwhile, the party's national youth's general election director Mohd Firdaus Jaafar who officiated the function, said that the state youth must win over young voters to increase the support base for Pakatan.

He said that this bloc will be the deciding factor in the forthcoming 13th general election if Pakatan is to take control of the federal government.

Another speaker, former state youth leader Mohd Munir Ali, urged party members to gain knowledge in blogging, Facebook , Skype , Twitter , SMS and the alternative media to reach out to the younger generation.

He also urged the party's youth to publicise the new image of a moderate PAS worthy of replacing Umno especially to those reaching voting age.
