Pandamaran Adun and Selangor exco Ronnie Liu continued to face stormy weather when around 30 Pandamaran residents gathered at his office this morning to demand his resignation.

The protestors showed up at Liu’s Pandamaran office with banners and placards voicing their dissatisfaction, and rallied for an hour.

A protestor Tew Leong Yew told Malaysiakini that Liu never visited the ground to solve their problems, and accused him of busying himself only in strengthening his political position.

“Even (former MCA assemblyperson) Teh Kim Poo performed better. We regret voting for Ronnie,” said Tew.

The residents also feel that DAP has unfairly dismissed Tee Boon Hock, whom they claimed was the one who really did work on the ground.

 Tew says Pandamaran residents face numerous problems with drainage, street lighting among others.

He cited how a former Adun would schedule workers to clean a large drain in his area to avoid flooding.

“But, after Ronnie won, he never sent anybody to clean the drain in these two years. There would be flooding whenever it rains,” he said.

‘Liu: Protestors Tee’s people’

During the protest, Liu happened to be nearby attending a function to distribute rice to local residents.

Tew said the protest was planned last week, and therefore they were not aware of Liu’s function.

Media reports have said that Liu has written off the protestors as subcontractors and Tee’s supporters who were unhappy because they failed to get contracts from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

Tew denied Liu’s accusation and challenged the exco to show proof that they are subcontractors.

“If he can show any evidence, we will apologise openly to him. If not, he should apologise to us.

“We not need to depend on (government contracts) to earn a living. We have our own jobs,” said Tew.

He added that the protestors came as Pandamaran constituents who included both MCA and DAP members.

The protest follows hot on the heels of the fracas at the Klang DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) annual general meeting two nights ago between supporters of Liu and his nemesis Tee.

NONE The Liu-Tee debacle first hit the spotlight when a media report headlined accusations that a Klang councillor - later revealed to be Tee ( right ) - had abused his position by using Liu's letterhead and seal to obtain contracts totalling RM1 million for 20 companies, including one linked to his son.

DAP later acted by dismissing Tee from the party, while the Selangor government gave the councillor the boot after MPK’s auditors claimed that they had found abuses in Tee’s support letters.

Tee has however maintained throughout that he is a victim of a “ conspiracy to remove me before party elections”.
