The plots thickens in the Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy trial II with allegations that the opposition leader's ex-aide Rahimi Osman, who held a press conference in Klang yesterday, was full of lies when he said that he was pressured into making two statutory declarations in 2008.

The declarations were said to be related to Anwar's ongoing trial for the alleged sodomy of another aide, Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

NONE According to PKR Youth exco member Amizudin Ahmat, he had witnessed "with my own eyes" that Rahimi ( right at centre in photo ) had, willingly without force, offered his statement to lawyer Latheefa Koya when making the declarations.

He said it was rather "comical, funny and strange" that Rahimi should overturn his confession only after two long years, especially with the Galas by-election in Kelantan looming in the background .

"At that time, Latheefa Koya as a lawyer had asked him several questions and he had answered without using a script. In other words, he related his experience willingly," said Amizuddin, a former Seberang Perai municipal councillor.

'Long time no see' classmates meet

"In his confessions, Rahimi told us Saiful was his friend from primary until secondary school. Rahimi met Saiful again during Anwar's 12th general election road show," he added when contacted.

"Rahimi had said he was shocked to meet Saiful at Anwar's political talk as he knew that the former was a strong supporter of Umno," he added.

Amizuddin also promised to expose more about Rahimi's character in the future in his blog called 'Sharpshooter'.

He added that he was asked to monitor Rahimi when PKR Youth held a two-day retreat in Shah Alam, before Anwar's Sodomy II allegations surfaced, and the latter sought refuge in the Turkish embassy.

"During the five days that we were with him. Rahimi was indeed very tense. He smoked a lot and was very afraid," said Amizuddin.

Yesterday, Rahimi had told reporters that he had lodged a police report at the Klang district police headquarters on the two statutory declarations, stating that he had been pressured by Anwar's men into making the statements.

Klang district police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop confirmed receiving the report but refused to divulge details as the matter has been transferred to the Shah Alam district police.

Scholarship request

Meanwhile, Amizuddin said Rahimi had probably forgotten that he and another PKR Youth exco member Zulkifli Ibrahim were tasked to ‘take care' of the former aide at a time when he was "scared and felt insecure".

He said at that juncture, Rahimi was "less confident and afraid" of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, then deputy prime minister, over the statements he made on Saiful.

Saiful had admitted meeting Najib at his home a few days before making his allegations against Anwar. The former said he then met Najib to ask for a scholarship.

"Rahimi was taken care of, for your information; he was allowed to meet anyone he wanted. He had even introduced us to his parents and told them ‘here're the two big brothers' who have been taking care of me all this while," said Amizuddin.
