Tomorrow's Perak DAP's ordinary state convention is expected to decide the political course to recapture the state as well as to take Putrajaya.

In a media statement issued today, state deputy party chief M Kulasegaran made a clarion call for delegates to rise to the occasion and prove to members that a united and capable team will be elected to lead the party to the next general election.

The DAP Ipoh Barat MP said that the loss of both the Galas and Batu Api seats in the recent polls the BN was a big moral blow to Pakatan leaders.

Kulasegaran ( left) y4c nep forum 060207 m kulasegaran said that the big majorities obtained by the BN candidates must mean that Chinese support of the 2008 general elections has now swung back in the ruling coalition's direction.

He pointed out that some political analysts have written that the by election results could spell trouble for the Pakatan in the coming polls strongly speculated to be held within six months.

Hence, the results of the latest by-elections should serve as a timely wake-up call for the Pakatan and its leadership council will have to quickly devise new strategies to win the people's support and confidence.

Bury political differences

Likewise, the state DAP must bury political differences to concentrate on uniting the two party factions at its elections tomorrow, he added.

As of yesterday both factions were still bitter rivals aiming to take over the state leadership in tomorrow's polls.

One faction is led by the two cousin brothers, party state chief Ngeh Koo Ham and party state secretary Nga Kor Ming with their rivals being Kulasegaran and party state organising secretary Thomas Su.

However, the political scenario seems to have changed today with Kulasegaran who is also party national vice-chief offering the olive branch to his opponents.

He said: "Let's prove to our supporters that there is only one team in the Perak DAP, that is, the Perak DAP team. Let tomorrow's party election results show that there is room and role for every capable leader in the team."

Tomorrow 1,218 party delegates will decide the fate of the 40 candidates in the sweepstake for 15 state committee seats.

The winners will decide the officials for the various state party posts and appoint another five members to the state committee.
