Forty-one PKR divisions went to the polls today in the third week of the party’s first-ever direct elections which saw extremely low voters turnout.

Of the 41 divisions, eight are in Terengganu, while the rest are in Perak (7), Kuala Lumpur (6), Penang (5), Sabah (5), Johor (4), Sarawak (3), Malacca (2) and Selangor (1).

The vote in this third week is without former Federal Territories chief Zaid Ibrahim, who on Monday pulled out from the three-cornered contest for the deputy president’s post in protest against alleged irregularities in the conduct of the polls.

According to unofficial results obtained by Malaysiakini, Azmin has increased his vote tally to 11,185, while rival Mustaffa Kamil Ayub is languishing with 2,493 votes.

With 140 divisions having gone to the polls - 99 yesterday and the 41 divisions in which unofficial results have been obtained today - Azmin Ali has an assailable majority of 8,692 votes.

Interestingly, Mustaffa won in at least seven divisions, probably picking up votes from Zaid supporters.

Since voting began three weeks ago, Azmin has pulled 63% of the votes, while Mus (14%) and Zaid (23% or 3,973).

Another 28 party divisions will vote tomorrow. PKR has a total of 222 divisions nationwide.
