An eight-months pregnant store-owner who claimed that she was slapped and robbed by plainclothes cops last week has identified five officers in a line-up as being among her assailants.

36-year-old Chow Soo Meng picked out the men from a police line-up of eleven men at the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters at 11.05am today.

The mother of two was accompanied by Segambut parliamentarian Lim Lip Eng. Both Chow (right ) and Lim also had their statements taken by the investigating officer later.

"It took only five minutes. She immediately identified the five as being those who broke into her shop without a warrant and took money and other valuables from her shop.

"She also identified one as being the police officer who slapped her and took her money along with another female police officer," the DAP member of parliament told Malaysiakini when contacted today.

Let down by no female cop line-up

However, he added that both he and Chow ( right) we disappointed that there was no line-up for female police officers, as one of those who took her money was a policewoman.

"We told this to the investigating officer. They said that there will another line-up later for female police officers," said Lim, however, the police did not say when.

Chow  is claiming that police had stolen about RM20,000 in cash and several other items from her shop, in addition to assaulting her.

"The police took several types of cigarettes, six bottles of hard liquor, mandarin oranges and three cartons of canned drinks," she said in her report lodged at the Kepong police station.

Petaling Jaya police have denied that officers took RM20,000 and other items as claimed by Chow, claiming that only RM15, 900 was seized for investigations into possible ill-gotten gains.

He confirmed that the police had indeed cut open the grille door of her shop when Chow refused to unlock it, and are probing into allegations that she was slapped.
