PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has today lodged a qazaf report with the Federal Territory Islamic Department (Jawi) on the ‘Datuk T’ trio. He said if no action is taken by the authorities, it will prove that Umno and Barisan Nasional are behind the caper.

NONE Shamsul Iskandar said they had used all legal avenues including lodging police reports against the ‘Datuk T’ trio - Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik and Shuib Lazim, for violations under section 292 of the Penal Code and Film Censorship Act, but no action has been taken against them.

“We are following up with this qazaf report under section 41 of the Federal Territory Syariah Offences Act, where there must be four witness who saw the alleged crime. If there are no four witnesses, then action must be taken against them based on the provisions under Syariah law.

“The trio has admitted responsibility. If no action is taken by the authorities on this (following the lodging of the civil and syariah complaints), it will prove our theory that BN/Umno is behind this,” he said.

Qazaf is a false allegation which is punishable where any person who accuses another person of committing zina without procuring four male witnesses or an iqrar of the accused person in accordance with Islamic law shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or jail up to three years or both.

The PKR Youth chief said it is exhausting all legal avenues to expose the people behind it by lodging civil and syariah complaints.

Further statement on April 18

Shamsul Iskandar said he will come and give a further statement to Jawi on April 18 after the Sarawak elections, to assist investigations in anyway he can so action can be taken.

Today he lodged the report to Jawi’s assistant director of investigations Siti Norjihan Saleh.

“We have made many police reports on ‘Datuk T’ and we are following up with this Syariah report on which we hope action will be taken.”

“I hope to provide the contact details of the three people (Rahim, Eskay, and Shuib). However, I do not have them now,” he said, adding his report today also includes a copy of Rahim’s media statement.

The video was shown to editors and several journalists on Monday March 21, where some viewed the 20 plus minute clip while others were shown the fast forward version.

Following the showing, the trio had admitted responsibility in showing the video clip to journalist and since then, they have been called up to Bukit Aman.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who has been implicated as being the person in the video, has denied it was him and instead the Permatang Pauh MP has accused Umno of being behind it.

Today, part of the video, which was apparently taken in a Thai hotel, was leaked online on several blogs.
