Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin ended up not giving his statement to the Malaysian police in Bangkok last night after his lawyers disputed with the officers' insistence that it be done at the Malaysian embassy.

NONE Bernama reported Raja Petra ( left ) as saying the the Malaysian police had wanted to interview him at the Malaysian embassy, but upon advice from his lawyers it was agreed that the recording of RPK's statement be done on "neutral ground", such as the hotel where he was staying.

"I am willing to cooperate and give the statement because they wanted to know if I made the allegation against Rosmah," he said at the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) dialogue last night in Bangkok.

The police wanted to interview Raja Petra over his statutory declaration allegedly linking the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor to Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder four years ago.

However, contrary to a subsequent Bernama report that claimed his statement had been taken, Raja Petra's website Malaysia Today said he ended up waiting for the officers to return after their demand that he go with them to the embassy was turned down by his lawyers Haris Ibrahim and Amarjit Sidhu.

In his 2009 statutory declaration, Raja Petra had alleged, among others, that he had been informed by sources that Rosmah had been present during Altantuya's murder.

Raja Petra, who is MCLM chairperson, is in Bangkok as part of his campaign to establish MCLM's Thailand chapter.

According to him, MCLM that was formed in 2004, had yet to get approval from the Registrar of Societies but in London, the movement was legalised in October last year.

During his recent interview with TV3 , he revealed that the statutory declaration linking Najib Tun Razak and Rosmah with the murder was made based on information from several individuals aimed at preventing Najib from becoming prime minister.
