The police have positively identified the male in a sex video, which depicts a person resembling PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, but they will not name the person for now.

NONE Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar ( left ), however, did not discount the possibility of revealing the identity of the person and it would happen “if the need arises under the law”.

"As the Inspector-General of Police has said, we have already identified the man in the video.

"We have obtained a foreign expert's report yesterday, which reaffirms local experts who found that the video is authentic... and not superimposed.

NONE "If the video is authentic, you can make your own assumptions," he told reporters during a press conference at the Bukit Aman national police headquarters today.

He added that the matter is investigated under section 292 of the Penal Code which requires that the police determine that the video distributed is in fact an authentic pornographic video.

But the law does not require that the identity of the man must be revealed.

Asked if Anwar can be charged with making a false police report if it turns out that he is the man in the video, Khalid said: “We will see.”

Khalid added that with the receipt of the foreign expert’s report, the police is now at the tail end of their investigation.

“We will bring the results of our probe to the attorney-general for further instructions,” he said.

More than 10 reports lodged over alleged ruckus

NONE Meanwhile, Khalid said that more than 10 reports were lodged regarding the alleged ruckus which took place at Masjid Amru al As in Sentul when Shazryl Eskay Abdullah had taken his religious oath (sumpah laknat).

Eskay is one of three men who make up the group known as Datuk T, including former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim, who screened the video to journalists on March 21.

“Investigations are still ongoing,” Khalid said.

Police have called in the Datuk T and PKR Youth deputy information chief Rozan Azen Md Asip for questioning.
