Hadi: PAS has no power to probe blogger's claims

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today said that the party has no jurisdiction to investigate the claims made by blogger Syed Azidi Abdul Aziz, who claimed that he was paid RM350,000 to use for Kelantan exco member Husam Musa's vice-presidency campaign.

Speaking to reporters at the party’s muktamar in Kuala Lumpur today, Abdul Hadi said that only the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) can look into the matter, and that the party welcomes such a probe.

“According to standard practice, any investigations must have the green light from a Menteri Besar and minister.

“Pakatan Rakyat MBs are open to any MACC probe into accusations of graft as we really want our government to be clean,” he said.

He added that if guilt can be established, the Pakatan state governments will not hesitate to take action, even on its own executive councillors.

“This has happened in PAS’s history. We don’t want to protect people with this disease (graft),” he said.

Soured relationship

Yesterday, Husam unequivocally denied paying Syed Azidi, who blogs under the psuedonym Kickdefella, the amount as alleged in an Utusan Malaysia report.

Syed Azidi ( right ), however, stands by his claim, saying that he is even prepared to be sued.

The duo’s relationship reportedly soured after Syed Azidi was sacked from Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated following a graft probe.

The blogger, however, took an oath in front of Kelantan MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat, saying that he is innocent of the corruption allegation.

Husam is facing a six-cornered fight for the post of vice-president in the PAS polls, which is currently ongoing. The results will be known tomorrow.
