PAS vice-president hopeful Husam Musa has denied paying RM350,000 to former aide and blogger Syed Azidi Abdul Aziz, which the latter reportedly said was a form of compensation.

pas muktamar 55 husam musa 050609 In a text message to the press, Husam ( right ) said that Syed Azidi's claims, which appeared on Utusan Malaysia 's website today, were false and possibly linked to PAS' internal elections tomorrow.

“Until today, I don't have that much money in my bank account. It would be stupid to give away that big an amount to someone like him because I have never had that much money in my life,” said Husam, who is also a Kelantan state exco member.

According to Utusan 's report, Syed Azidi claimed to have received the funds, and denied allegations that it was his fee to help Husam in his campaign for the PAS vice-presidency.

“Allegations that I had met Husam and received the funds in China are inaccurate. Since Nov 9, 2009 we have never met, but we have spoken on the phone and exchanged text messages,” said Syed Azidi.

Commenting on this, Husam said he suspected that Syed Azidi's statements were meticulously timed to coincide with the PAS polls.

“I am suspicious about Utusan 's habit of always interfering with PAS elections since 2008,” he said.

He also denied Syed Azidi's claims that the duo were still on talking terms.

“Claims that I spoke on the phone with him recently are also false.

"Our telephone records can prove that. I do admit that he sent me a few text messages a few weeks ago (about his articles), and I replied 'congratulations',” said Husam.

Syed Azidi and Husam's relationship reportedly soured after the former's sacking from Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated.
