Police have called many individuals for questioning over alleged breach of trust of a loan provided by the government for the National Feedlot Centre (NFC), said deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.

However, he declined to reveal the actual number of people called for questioning.   

“More witnesses will be called. We are still investigating to settle this high-profile case,” he told reporters after attending a police awards presentation ceremony at the Wangsa Maju police station in Kuala Lumpur today.

Prior to this, Khalid had said 74 individuals had been quizzed concerning the issue.

The Auditor-General’s report for 2010 had stated that the NFC project, which was meant to complement beef supply in the country, was “in a mess”.
