A businessman today lodged a police report claiming to have been assaulted by at least four plainclothes police personnel in Bukit Sentosa last night.

police brutality victim khoo gin seong According to Khoo Gin Seong, 44 ( left ), a police personnel known locally by the name of Mansur had assaulted him while the former was drinking and gambling at a coffeeshop there at about 9pm.

Mansur, who is said to be a regular at the coffeeshop, was also accused of stealing RM1,000 which Khoo said he had won in a card game.

Khoo claimed that Mansur, seated at the next table, was intoxicated from drinking beer and irritated by the businessman who was speaking loudly.

This led to an argument, ending up with Mansur beating up Khoo, with the help of “four or five” other individuals the latter claimed were recognisable as police personnel.

He said that the incident was witnessed by at least four people at the coffeeshop.

The businessman said he was then taken to the Bukit Sentosa police station, where he was stopped from leaving until his friends came with “several hundred ringgit” at around midnight.

Four hours later, Khoo later returned to the same police station to lodge a police report, but claimed that the personnel there refused to accept it.

The report was finally lodged at 4.51am after the alleged victim refused to budge.

“They beat me up until my dentures broke and my body is now hurting,” he said in the report.

‘Don’t pull obstructing police duty stunt’

Speaking to Malaysiakini after a press conference on the matter in Rawang, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said Khoo phoned him a little after eight in the morning to complaint about the incident.

“He said that the investigating officer (IO) had called him to ask him to 'selesai' (settle) the issue and not to pursue it further, but he refused and called me.

“The IO called again at about 10am but was told that Khoo had brought the matter to the DAP, after which the IO set an appointment to take Khoo’s statement,” he said.

Lim, who is also a lawyer and has handled cases of police brutality before, said that police have previously investigated those who complained of brutality with obstructing police in performing their duty.

“I am warning Bukit Sentosa police station not to pull that stunt. I have witnesses who are willing to come forward,” he said.

Lim later contacted the news portal to say that the IO had called to inform him that the matter is being investigated under Section 323 and 325 of the Penal Code which deals with voluntarily causing hurt.

When contacted by Malaysiakini , the Bukit Sentosa police station confirmed that Khoo had lodged a report on the matter this morning, but cannot disclose further information as the matter is under probe.
