PAS MP says it again: Lynas safe with monitoring
PAS MP for Hulu Langat Che Rosli Che Mat, who broke ranks with the party’s stand on the Lynas issue last August, today stood by his stand that the rare earth plant in Gebeng, Pahang, is safe with proper monitoring.

“I stand by my stand. I corrected (the facts) from an academic view. It is a plant extracting elements from rare earth, not a nuclear plant...
“It is up to the Kuantan residents to think about it. It is safe with monitoring,” he said in a brief reply when asked about the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally during a press conference today in Shah Alam.
Due to a family matter in Perlis, the nuclear scientist will not attend the anti-Lynas rally scheduled on this Sunday in Kuantan.
“Whoever from Selangor PAS wants to support (the rally), no problem. There is even a delegation from Hulu Langat (PAS division),” he said.
On Aug 24 last year, Che Rosli ( left ) was quoted by pro-government station TV3 as saying he was “ashamed” that Kuantan MP and PKR vice-president Fuziah Salleh had misled the public into going against the RM700 million project for their own benefit.
This earned him a scathing rebuke from Fuziah, who described Che Rosli’s arguments in support of the project as “too simplistic”.
He later clarified that the statement was made in his personal capacity as a nuclear scientist and not a representative of the Islamic party, and it was not in support of the controversial plant.
