After the incident of a policeman in Tangkak who allegedly kicked a 14-year-old motorcyclist, causing severe injuries, another public uproar has broken out in Balik Pulau, Penang, against how the men in blue are dealing with motorcyclists.

According to an online report of English daily The Star , more than 100 villagers swarmed the Teluk Bahang police station to protest over alleged misconduct by two policemen handling the Mat Rempit menace.

The report claimed that villagers threw stones and sticks at the station on Sunday night, following allegations that the police officers had earlier hurled helmets at a group of teenagers involved in illegal racing.

Five of them reportedly fell from their machines and one of them was warded in a hospital.

Victim sent to ICU

Penang police chief Ayub Yaakob was quoted as saying that they were conducting an internal investigation on the alleged misconduct by the police officers.

The previous incident in Taman Tangkak Jaya, Ledang, Johor, was widely reported by Chinese dailies.

The victim ( photo ) was sent to the Intensive Care Unit due to the severe injuries on his head, right ear, neck, right leg and other parts of the body.

The alleged police violence against a 14-year-old motorcyclist Lim Hup Hwang at Tangkak was disputed by two reports made by the police, which claimed the youth was injured after clashing with another motorcyclist who is a member of Rela (People Volunteer’s Corp).

Police receive four reports

According to Chinese newspaper Sin Chew Daily , Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said police had received four reports regarding the incident, two from Lim’s father and another two from police personnel.

The father’s report cited Lim’s friends who claimed that Lim suffered injuries after his motorcycle was kicked by a policeman, while the report by the police argued that Lim, who did not wear a helmet, fell and injured himself after his motorcycle ran into another motorcycle ridden by a Rela member, who also suffered minor injuries.

Mokhtar has directed his official to investigate the contradicting reports, and pledged that whoever was found lodging a false report would be charged.

He called on eyewitness to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The state police chief promised that outcome of the probe will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor and made public.

The daily reported that Ledang district police, of which the alleged policeman is a member, had refused to confirm whether he has been suspended pending an investigation.

It was also reported that police had recorded a statement from Lim while he was lying in the hospital, without the presence of his family members or a lawyer.

This had annoyed Lim’s family.
