I'm not mocking cops, says Komtar MCA chairperson

Komtar MCA branch chairperson Lim Cheng Hee said he was not mocking the police when he made a call from Komtar to the police interactive kiosk last Thursday.
Lim said he was merely conducting a test run of the police interactive kiosk to check on the force response time after Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman questioned the state police force’s efficiency.
He said the call was his own idea and had nothing to do with anyone else, including Komtar Barisan Nasional (BN) coordinator Loh Chye Teik.
The test call had proven detractors wrong in questioning the professionalism and efficiency of the force in maintaining security and public order, he added.
“I am willing to accept criticisms and face the music if my action is deemed outrageous,” he said at a news conference in George Town today.
The test run was severely criticised by various quarters, including Komtar assemblyperson Ng Wei Aik, who said Lim’s antics were unwarranted as they had wasted the police’s time and energy.
