Two Penang Umno leaders accused of selling a plot of land belonging to Malay villagers in Balik Pulau have denied claims that they profited on the land by millions of ringgit in just four months.

Umno Bukit Gelugor division chief Omar Faudzar showed reporters two sale and purchase agreements to back his claim that his company - Mason Heights Sdn Bhd - did not sell the land it purchased within the alleged period.

NONE "We purchased the land on Oct 2, 2010, and sold it in January this year. To say it was sold within four months of its purchase is the biggest lie," Omar ( right ) said.

He made the announcement at a press conference today, accompanied by his partner in the company and the other person accused, state Umno deputy chief Musa Sheikh Fadzir.

"Both documents are stamped and cannot be fabricated," Omar added, threatening to initiate legal action against PKR Balik Pulau division chief Abdul Halim Hussain should he repeat the claim. 

Omar said he was not a broker but a developer since the 1980s and that he had bought the land for development.

His was a private company, not a government or a government-linked company, he said, adding that Abdul Halim, who is also Penang legislative speaker, had embarrassed him and his family.

'Company blacklisted '

On whether he was seeking an apology from Abdul Halim, Omar said "No", but if the Abdul Halim were to repeat his allegations, "I will 100 percent sue him for defamation".

He also said that if the company had developed the land, it would have profited a lot more than RM5 million - the profit the duo is alleged to have made from of the sale of the land.

However, Omar said, Mason Heights - a sister company of developer Aseania - had been ‘blacklisted' and that he and Musa had no choice but to sell the land .

On a related matter, Musa continued to accuse Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of being "the fathers of brokers" for selling land belonging to Penangites in Bayan Mutiara and Taman Manggis.

M NONE usa, who is also Bukit Mertajam Umno chief, said Lim aimed to "cover up his weaknesses" by trying to destroy Umno.

"Lim seems to target only bumiputera companies. Other developers are also doing the same (selling land) but he does not mention others," Musa said, adding that Lim was a racist for doing so.

He challenged Abdul Halim (right) to show evidence that he and Omar had sold the Malay land in Balik Pulau within four months, saying Abdul Halim is merely Lim's "puppet".

Lim had yesterday urged Umno president and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to order Omar and Musa to return the profits from the land-sale to the people.
