Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has urged MCA Young Professionals Bureau chief Chua Tee Yong to "have a certain level of dignity”.

NONE Commenting on Chua's statement questioning the state-commissioned audit on the Talam debt recovery exercise by audit firm KPMG, Khalid said the time for jokes was over.

"We have reached a level where we need to be responsible, we can't be jokers all the time.

"Also, especially since Chua is a deputy minister, he must have a certain level of dignity," Khalid told reporters today.

He added that instead of pondering aloud the cost of the audit, Chua, a trained accountant, could easily inquire the cost of such an exercise from an auditing or accounting firm.

Debate challenge renewed

Chua, who is also Labis MP, yesterday questioned the audit, which showed that the debt recovery exercise did not shortchange the state.

NONE The deputy Aagriculture and agro-based industry minister had questioned the scope of the audit and speculated that the renowned audit firm KPMG had made RM500,000 from the job.

He also renewed his challenge to the MB to debate the Talam debt restructuring exercise.

Khalid has appointed four representatives - PAS MP Dzulkefly Ahmad, DAP MP Tony Pua, PKR MP William Leong and his political secretary Faekah Husin - for the task.

"So don't ask me (about Talam) anymore, it is very expensive for the MB to answer," he had said when announcing the appointments.
