The Selangor government today made good on MCA's challenge to prove the former's affordable housing figures by disclosing the specific locations where they were built.

NONE In a statement today, state exco in charge of housing, building management and squatters Iskandar Abdul Samad ( left ) said to date, a total of 6,470 units of low-cost housing, priced at under RM42,000, had been constructed.

In providing a breakdown according to district, they said these include 1,696 units in Petaling, 1,510 in Hulu Langat, 2,193 in Gombak, 880 in Sepang and 191 in Kuala Selangor.

There were on top of another 12,481 units more underway.

"The state government hopes that (with this) the parties which have hurled accusations retract them because it is now clear that they were untrue," he said.

He was responding to Selangor MCA chief Donald Lim, who had accused the state government of not building any affordable housing and demanded proof if otherwise.

azlan Adding on, Iskandar said another 3,925 units of medium-cost housing, priced at RM100,000, have been completed to date.

Furthermore, an additional 1,682 units of affordable housing was under construction.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, when weighing in on the matter in Parliament, took a swipe at MCA for fumbling over numbers.

"MCA is quite weak in numbers including in the Talam case," he said.

Abdul Khalid explained that there may have been confusion between low-cost housing with affordable housing - a concept that was only introduced more recently.

He added that he will only elaborate on the matter tomorrow after the state exco meeting.
