Unregistered overseas M'sians should check voting status

YOURSAY 'I just checked my daughter's MyKad number. She is also registered as a voter. She is studying overseas, too, and has never registered.'

Girl studying in India, but is registered as voter

your say Swipenter: What is going on here? I venture to guess that someone is registering on behalf of those unregistered voters and getting them to vote for you-know-who in GE13 to complement the ‘citizenship for vote' scheme.

Who would have access to such data? You need at least two government agencies to work hand in glove to pull off such a stunt. No price for guessing which are the two agencies.

The question remains what would happen to the status of these registered voters after the general election? Are they going to de-register them after GE13 to cover their tracks?

I plead with those who have not registered to vote to check on their status. Do it for the sake of the country, for yourself and for the future generations.

Anonymous #47497449: Tiruchelvam Vallipuram, I think your daughter should make the extra effort to return to vote. If not, not only will her vote be lost, it would be used instead by the powers-that-be.

Another 'slight' problem is this - the ‘imposter' may have voted before your daughter turns up so she will not get to vote. Early morning bus service to voting centres will see to it.

Maplesyrup: This could the gap that voter manipulators are looking for. Parents, please check on your children who are overseas to see if the same 'strategy' is being used.

Anonymous #74213613: In fact, I was informed that the same has happened to my friend`s daughter who is presently studying in Egypt. Something sinister is definitely going on.

Anonymous #67264380: I just checked my daughter's MyKad number. She is also registered as a voter. She is studying overseas, too, and has never registered. Definitely there is a scam going on. Can the Election Commission answer this?

Kgen: Tiruchelvam, if your daughter is in Malaysia on polling day, better go and vote first thing in the morning. Otherwise, she will discover that she has already ‘voted'.

Anonymous_3e86: BN, through the EC, has gathered information on all who are eligible to vote and registered many of those who have yet done so (especially those overseas). BN will then plant phantom voters to vote on their behalf.

Everyone need to check online to see if their friends, relatives and neighbours have been registered and also to check on their voting constituency. Many have discovered that they have been transferred to another constituency to vote.

Here is the website to check.

Ferdtan: "If my daughter happened to be in Malaysia during the next general election and her name was still on the electoral roll, Tiruchelvam added, he would insist that she votes in order prevent her vote from being ‘misused'."

Well said, Tiruchelvam. If the phantom voter were to vote on her behalf and if it is not of her choice, it will be a double whammy. Not only the ghost voter takes her place to vote and he/she votes against her choice of candidate.

Gggg: You all ask for automatic registration, so Election Commission (EC) is now doing just that.

Just make sure she is here to vote. We don't want another ' Ops Durian Busuk ' in Selangor.

Save Our Currency: Do they check to see which Malaysians have gone overseas and register them? Where do they get the information from? Immigration?

Take the EC to court, get an injunction and get the whole commission changed.

Sense: We should take action - not the EC, not BN, not Umno and not the PM.

Citizenship-for-votes probe stirs outrage

Quigonbond: If there is anyone out there who still think that it is beneath BN to rig the votes or send in phantom voters to win the next general elections, think again.

In every sense of the word, the stakes for BN in the coming general elections are way higher compared with Mitt Romney's quest for presidency in the US.

Yet, that did not stop Romney from making outright false accusations to try to swing voters in the state of Ohio, which Barack Obama eventually carried. It's just human behaviour of the dishonourable kind.

Therefore, it is imperative for all Malaysians to not only come out and vote, but to play the role of the doubting, skeptical observer and report anything and everything to Bersih and Pakatan Rakyat.

And of course, while there is still time, to do all that we can to persuade the those undecided, as well as conduct all necessary protests to pressure the EC to do it right by Malaysians and not the powers-that-be in Putrajaya.

Mangodurian: To understand how this is treason: The forefathers of those are now native Malaysians fought with the British in World War II, and then communism. They've every right to citizenship, whether they were Malay, Chinese, Indian and even Filipinos and Indonesians.

These new 'Project IC' new citizens did absolutely nothing except to profess Islam and to vote for a political party during elections. After that, because of their large numbers, they didn't assimilate and worse, probably caused a lot of social ills since they've no bonds with other native Malaysians.

They then went to the peninsula, which explained why suddenly in the 90s Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kuala Lumpur was swamped by 'foreigners' and fought with local Kampung Baru Malays.

SKT: Don't you think it's strange that PM Najib Razak okayed this royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on immigrants in Sabah and the former government officials confessed their guilt too willingly? Especially considering the fact that the maximum punishment for treason is death.
