PKR's director of strategy Rafizi Ramli says he admires former MCA president Ong Tee Keat's courage in exposing the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) scandal and called on Ong to take another courageous step for change.

NONE The next test for Ong, Rafizi ( right ) said, was whether the former transport minister would dare ride the wave of change with the people yearning to change the old for the new.

"The greatest courage now is to turn towards change. The change this time is from BN to Pakatan Rakyat.

"I hope he is daring enough to join Pakatan for the next general election," Rafizi told Malaysiakini .

PKR has announced that Rafizi would contesting in the Pandan parliamentary constituency, where Ong is the incumbent.

Ong himself is not sure yet whether the BN will allow him to defend the seat, especially since he's had a fallout with current MCA president, Dr Chua Soi Lek.

'Battle of parties, not individuals'

Rafizi said the coming general election was not about individuals and that it would ultimately be a battle of parties.

"It is not about him (Ong) or me. I am just a small fry, with nothing," said Rafizi.

He was responding to Ong's interview with Malaysiakini, in which the former MCA president said he and rival Rafizi had little in common even though both had exposed scandals.

Rafizi is known for his expose of the National Feedlot Corporation scandal which eventually led to the resignation of Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Rafizi also praised Ong's performance when he was a minister, but noted that the latter had now been sidelined by MCA.

"Even if Ong wins, it will be difficult for him to do anything as his voice is not given weight in MCA," Rafizi said.
