Cheras Umno chief Syed Ali Alhabshee has called on Pakatan Rakyat to apologise for using his name and face on one of its posters.

Syed Ali said he was only made aware of the matter when he started receiving SMSes and MMSes from friends in Pahang, who had seen the postings in Kuantan, asking him if he had defected to the opposition alliance.

He claimed his name and face were featured on the poster as one of the ‘political analysts’ due to speak on Lahad Datu at a ceramah at the Indera Mahkota 2 PKR branch tomorrow night.

“I deem the action by the organiser (of the ceramah), namely PKR, in uploading my image as an act of treason, sabotage and malicious, intending to tarnish my reputation and credibility as Cheras Umno division chief as well as Federal Territory BN and Umno relations secretary.

“I have never and will never join Pakatan because I am of BN flesh and blood,” Syed Ali said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

He said he was informed that the poster was first uploaded on the blog PahangDaily , but it has since been removed.

He said he has also heard word that a Pahang PKR leader had issued a statement admitting to the error in the poster.

Even so, Syed Ali stressed, the parties responsible must write him a personal letter of apology as well as apologise in the print and electronic media, within seven days.

“I will not hesitate to take legal action against the organiser, especially Pahang PKR, if it does not openly apologise to me,” he added.
