The Sarawak BN meeting tomorrow will see PBB seeking consensus from  component parties on the successor for  Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, says PBB secretary-general Stephen Rundi Utom.

"Tomorrow we will have another meeting to get consensus, we do things cautiously and prudently," he told journalists today at the PBB headquarters after the party's supreme council meeting.

The party had resolved today that Abdul Taib will name his own successor, however, other key partners in the state including PRS, SUPP and SPDP have yet to be consulted and are expected to be briefed tomorrow.

Stephen ( right ) declined to put a timeline on when the successor will be named, only saying that it will be "soon".

"It is an open end, but it will be very soon, very soon we will get the answer," he said.

Among those tipped to replace Abdul Taib are PBB deputy president Abang Johari Openg, PBB senior vice president Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and PBB information chief Adenan Satem.

Tomorrow’ s meeting of top Sarawak BN leaders will also be held at the PBB’s Petra Jaya headquarters.

The party announced today that this new leader will lead BN in the next Sarawak state election in 2016.

Once the new leader takes over, Abdul Taib will be proposed as the state's new governor, replacing 92-year-old Abang Muhammad Salahuddin whose tenure will expire on Feb 28.
