YOURSAY 'The Waytha episode clearly illustrates that Najib cannot be trusted.'
MB claims PKR leaders 'wanted to set water price'
Sodom Me Sodom You: This last-minute deal is akin to the MOU (memorandum of understanding) signed between Persatuan Hindraf's P Waythamoorthy and BN. It's just a stop-gap and I'm sure BN has no intention of honouring it.
Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is a fool to have fallen right into this trap.
Pemerhati: Penang CM Lim Guan Eng says that the Penang experience indicates that BN will not honour its undertakings.
So what makes Khalid think that Najib and BN will honour this particular MOU? What could very well happen now is that Najib and Umno will be able to steal billions from the Langat 2 project by their usual practice of getting huge kickbacks from their cronies who will be given the lucrative highly overpriced negotiated contracts to carry out the work.
They will then as usual renege on the MOU and any other undertaking given to Khalid. It was very wrong of Khalid to do this billion ringgit deal without consulting the other Pakatan Rakyat leaders.
In fact, they should all now take urgent action to study the matter in detail and take corrective measures to ensure that Pakatan does not get played out by BN, and Najib and Umno do not siphon off billions from a potentially crooked Langat 2 deal.
Onyourtoes: Are Khalid and PKR behaving like Umno now? What about DAP and PAS, don’t you think they also need to know what the MOU terms are all about?
If the federal government gave you two hours to sign, must you respond within such an unreasonable time? Look, negotiations have been going on for more than five years, so what is another day or so to talk over with selected Pakatan coalition partners and PKR leadership?
You have given the only trump card of the state to the federal government, i.e. to build the Langat 2 water treatment plant almost immediately. But the takeover of the concessions has remained dicey. How sure are you it will be done?
Even if it is done, can the federal government later invoke section 114 of Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Wasia) to take over the concessions now owned and managed by the state government under some dubious national interest arguments?
Khalid, you have said that you can’t trust all the PKR leaders. I agree with you, but can we trust the MOU? And can we trust you completely?
Anonymous_1371521487: The MB may have stuck to the RM9.65 billion price tag for the four water companies in Selangor, but he has agreed to allow Langat 2 and international arbitration should the parties agree to disagree on the price tag.
Thus, the price tag may be increased. Who bears the cost of Langat 2 and contractors appointed by the federal government? Have we forgotten about cost overruns in Bakun and KLIA 2?
There are a lot of missing pieces and the experts need to look at the details. Signing on a moment's notice does not make sense. Do I smell a red herring?
Too Lan: Now Khalid is explaining matters like a BN representative giving little respect to his state exco and Pakatan partners. He is another hero to zero. Even a corporate man knows he cannot sign on behalf of the corporation without the board's knowledge.
CiViC: Get ready for the BN federal government to back out on the MOU and turn hostile on Selangor Pakatan right after the Kajang by-election.
The last-minute deal to sign the MOU from BN is likely to stir up infighting aim at sabotaging PKR's Kajang campaign, and once it is over, they will back out from their words and by then, it's too late to stop the Langat 2 water treatment plant.
Pannirselvam Mannar Reddy: Khalid's actions only go to show that he is working with BN and this is the reason for PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim wanting to come in as Khalid is compromising Pakatan policies. We are not fools to believe his explanations.
PAS wants S'gor water deal details revealed
Anonymous #37634848: The whole objective of the MOU is to throw mud on Anwar and destabilise Selangor and Pakatan. This is also a distraction from Kajang by-election. Khalid fell into BN's trap and sold his party.
Pakatan leaders should hold Khalid responsible and dig into the nuts and bolts of the deal immediately.
Fair Play: I suppose the conclusion of the water issue has raised more questions than answers.
First, has Khalid accomplished another 'dawn raid', this time against his perceived nemesis, Anwar, knowing his end is nigh?
Second, is this linked to the settlement of his personal loan problem with Bank Islam? Third, is he doing it for the benefit of the Selangor rakyat?
Fourth, has he committed political treason of the highest order by keeping all the top honchos within the Pakatan coalition totally in the dark and acted like a corporate maverick?
There seems to be no end to the questions. No doubt, Khalid's political future with Pakatan looks as good as finished.
Ex-wfw: Let us see the MOU before we jump to any conclusions; BN is desperate to tell Malaysians that they are fair players; at least on paper.
Khalid has a point in terms of such negotiations that other interested parties might take advantage of the situation. Surely we can wait.
