Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz has described Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim as a practitioner of the "highest level of nepotism" for his attempt to make his wife the Selangor menteri besar.

He said this in reference Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's expulsion from PKR for refusing to make way for Anwar's wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (right) who is also PKR president.

"How is PKR going to do justice for the rakyat if it can't do justice to its own members. It is very unfortunate.

"Anwar is willing to expel people simply to install his own wife," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

"This is nepotism of the highest level - Firing a man who is well-qualified solely for his wife," he added.

Nazri also added that the leadership qualities currently displayed by Anwar were unacceptable.

According to him, the rakyat, especially those in Selangor, should be able to judge the way the PKR de facto leader has led his people.

"Anwar has lied to Dr Mahathir, lied to Umno and now he lies to his friend (Khalid). He lies to PAS as well as PKR.

"I read that two to three days ago Anwar said Khalid is good and is an old friend, but two days later, he fires Khalid.

"This act shows poor leadership qualities. I hope the Selangor residents would be able to realize and not accept him (Anwar) as their leader,” Nazri added.

PKR last Saturday expelled Khalid for defying the party's decision to replace him as menteri besar.

Khalid, who claimed sabotage by the party leadership, has described the decision to sack him as illegal and has sent a legal notice to PKR.

In the notice, he wanted the party to submit information about who attended Saturday's disciplinary board meeting.

He vowed to stay on as menteri besar until the issue is resolved through proper procedures and conventions, particularly in accordance to the Selangor constitution.
