Meet with MB's lawyers leaves PAS MP unhappy
Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad today denied that he was satisfied with a meeting with Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's lawyers.
Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad today denied that he was satisfied with a meeting with Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's lawyers.
He said he not satisfied with the outcome of the meeting because nothing was explained with regard to the out-of-court settlement with Bank Islam that involved a RM66 million loan.
He told a press conference today that the meeting which took two hours was "a waste of time".
Khalid Samad met the MB's lawyer Mathew Thomas Philip on Aug 16.
The meeting was a result of Khalid Samad's letter to the menteri besar to give an explanation on the allegations made by PKR against the latter.
The debt was a central issue in PKR's case against the MB.
No green light
"Philip had called the menteri besar several times duing the meeting to obtain his permission to reveal details on many issues.
"Until today Philip said he has not received the green light from the menteri besar," he said.
The Shah Alam MP expressed his disappointment with the MB for not taking the opportunity to explain matters through his lawyers.
"He should have taken the opportunity to clear his name. It is for his own reputation, since he talks about integrity."
When asked whether he was trying to save the troubled MB, Khalid Samad said that it was up to the menteri besar to save himself.
"As it is, saving him as menteri besar is too late, what with the statements and actions he have made," he said.
