End Hindustani drama, PAS man tells PKR

A PAS think-tank leader is the latest to weigh in on the Selangor menteri besar crisis, albeit with a Bollywood twist.

 

In his Facebook posting, Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki ( right) , who shot to fame after a series of controversial messages he posted in a chat group were leaked, called for an end to the ongoing “Hindustan drama.”

 

Although he showered accolades on PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for being a model wife, he echoed his president Abdul Hadi Awang in casting aspersion on her capabilities to helm a state.

 

“This is not the time to garner public sympathy, which was effectively done by Wan Azizah in 1999 during the reformasi era (after her husband Anwar Ibrahim was sent to prison).

 

“This is the time to exhibit a sterling example of leadership in Selangor. 

 

“The people want to see the greatness, transparency, skill and wisdom of a Pakatan menteri besar in running the state, where (current MB) Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has set a high benchmark (for administration),” he added. 

 

Contrary to claims that Hadi’s remarks were disparaging and smacked of chauvinism, Zuhdi said the PAS president’s reprimand was honouring Wan Azizah. 

 

“I don’t see it as an insult, but rather honouring and appreciating Wan Azizah for executing her role as an ‘isteri mithali’ (exemplary wife),” he added.

 

In Islam, Zuhdi explained, leadership is not something special but rather an immense burden.

 

Continuing to heap praises on Wan Azizah, he said if there is an award for “isteri mithali”, there is no doubt that she would be among those most qualified.

 

“When her husband was insulted to the core, she defended him with earnest. When his friends abandoned him, she continued to be loyal and believed in his loyalty,” he added.

 

Despite this, Zuhdi said those close to Wan Azizah when she spearheaded Parti Keadilan Nasional (the predecessor of PKR) know in depth about her leadership abilities.

 

He said Wan Azizah is one of those with enviable skills in other fields, but not in leadership.

 

Even Anwar’s foes, he added, realise that Wan Azizah is a great woman, whom they respect, sympathise with and refrain from attacking.

 

However, Zuhdi said the attempt to make her the menteri besar of Selangor is tainting her image and reputation.
