There was "no discussion about Selangor menteri besar candidates" at PKR's political bureau meeting last night, its secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said.

He said that the meeting was only informed by president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (below) that a reply has been sent to the Selangor palace over the sultan's letter to PKR dated Sept 3.

This is reference to the letter from the palace reprimanding PKR for only nominating Wan Azizah when the sultan had asked each Pakatan Rakyat party to nominate “more than two” candidates.

" Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider ’s report on the Selangor menteri besar issue was not based on official party sources and is irresponsible," he said in a statement tonight.

He said the meeting discussed the upcoming Pengkalan Kubor by-election, information sessions in Selangor to explain the crisis to the people and court cases against PKR leaders.

Earlier, Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider had reported that PKR has hit the pause button on the issue of MB nominations, pending a reply from the palace.

Similarly, news portal Malay Mail Online also reported the issue was raised by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim who chaired the meeting said the matter can only be discussed after the palace replies.

It also reported that sources claim the letter to the palace was a request for an audience with the sultan by Wan Azizah.
