Today Oktoberfest, what will it be tomorrow?

YOURSAY 'Are Umno/PAS trying to force their beliefs on others?'

MP: Not insulting PAS by joining Oktoberfest

Open minded: DAP Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, cheers! I love my beer and went to the Oktoberfest a few year ago and enjoyed it immensely, where there was so much of love and brotherhood.

What would (the likes of Utusan , PAS) think of next? Stop people from going to church? It is not far-fetched when twisted minds cannot think logically. I value my freedom of choice, which is my very existence.

Peacemaker: Umno Malay members eat beef, does it mean they are disrespecting the Hindu MIC members? During Hari Raya Haji (Qurban) the Umno Malay members slaughter cows, does it mean they were insulting the Hindus of MIC?

MCA and Gerakan Chinese members eat pork; does it mean they are insulting the Umno Malay members?

An Umno member suggested abolishing Chinese schools; does it mean they were insulting the BN Chinese members? Who is the 'pak turut' (yes man) now? Awang Selamat - how about 'urut batin' amongst the Malays? Halal kah ?

Kangkung: Today it's an issue with Oktoberfest, what will it be tomorrow? Are Umno and PAS trying to force their beliefs on others?

Proarte: It would have been good for Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali of PKR and Khalid Samad of PAS to attend the event.

It would have gone a long way to reassure people that Pakatan will uphold the rights of all Malaysians and not only Muslims.

The constitution guarantees freedom of worship and equality before the law. If Umno is encouraging unconstitutional behaviour, then it is up to all right-thinking Malaysians to defend the constitution.

Drinking beer is a constitutional right of non-Muslims. Muslims should support human rights and not deny what Allah has granted non-Muslims.

Wira: If I were staying at the Damansara area I would have attended this event too. It's about standing up for one's right to do what is not sinful to one's belief.

Tembikai: Utusan Malaysia , the way you promote extremism, I would not be surprised if you are helping to breed Isis members in this country. Our dear Prime Minister Najib Razak and Umno members, if you continue to fan extremism, once Isis lands on our shores, they will want your places, positions and wealth.

As for Utusan , especially Awang Selamat, the rakyat of Malaysia are not safe with you people around.

StopMonkeying: What the non-Malays do that is within the framework of the constitution, is none of your business and we don't need you to meddle in our affairs.

Thana55: Teresa Kok, no need to apologise to anyone. It is your right to consume alcohol for enjoyment if it's in a responsible manner.

Samurai: Utusan is only making a fuss because it is held in Selangor, the golden goose that has escaped their hands. However, to make this an issue is silly, because all their non-Muslim BN leaders drink all the time, in public, and I imagine, would have even photographed in newspapers toasting during Chinese New Year or whatever at some point in our past 50 years.

And when their great supremely pious Muslim leader Najib Razak goes to functions abroad in the West, do you think there is no alcohol free flowing at the galas and VIP dinners? Go and protest there lah, if you have the guts.

I am not saying our leaders would be drinking alcohol there, but do you think everyone else who is not Muslim sitting around our 'first lady' in the First Lady gala would be drinking only mineral water?

Anonymous #559621903: It is a non-Muslim social drinking event. We should respect and accept the social/religious and cultural events of each community, as long as it does not cross the bounds of decency of civilised society.

Anticonmen: Certain egomaniacs want others to think the way they think because according to them, it is decreed by God and if others do not do so, they will impose their way of thinking on them. This is called fanaticism.

Legit: Aiyoh, where as a country are we going? This is a multiracial, multi-religious and a progressive nation. Beer money, whiskey money, gambling money, pork money and all the haram money are being spent for the welfare of the bumiputera and the Muslim community. These holier than thou guys better learn to live with reality.

Malaysia Truly Asia: These cheap DAP MPs want free publicity and at the same time fish for young voters. Problem is no one can actually say what has DAP done for this nation of Malaysia.

Yes, many Chinese helped grow this economy, but the instruments to do that was made available for them in Malaysia , and again they were not from DAP.

Pisasu 7 : We too don’t like DAP, but what to do, Umno, MCA, PAS, also useless.

Basically: If there is nothing wrong, as the government says, with slaughtering of cows at a multiracial national school with Hindu students present, then the theory works both ways. But of course, this is in the real world, not in the land of endless possibilities.

Malaysian Pariah: The Isis supporters in Malaysia are going to slow down economic growth.

Nicky: "PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, speaking to journalists at the PAS headquarters, insisted that it is the non-Muslims' right, including DAP's, to attend the Oktoberfest." He is a moderate leader.

Blackmoon: Teresa Kok and the other DAP leaders should just shut up. Do not make any statement until you clear the air over the legitimacy of 120 DAP branches during the Sept 29, 2013 CEC election. Your positions are in question.

Fair Play: Teresa Kok, you don't have to say anything. It would only make it worse. Imagine, the next thing they demand would require you to change your faith.

Keturunan Malaysia: As they say when everything else is equal, the mathematical probability of those who are correct in their thinking vis-a-vis those who are not, rest with the majority.

In the case of this nation, it reads something like 52 percent against 48 percent. In the case of Penang, it is so lopsided and likewise in virtually all the comment forums in Malaysiakini

It reminds me of what Rudyard Kipling once said (with a little bit of editing by yours sincerely to suit this occasion), "If we all can keep our heads, when one or two among us are losing theirs, we are going to have us some good fun".

My Opinion : There is an activity that is more insulting to PAS than Oktoberfest. It takes place 365 days a year at the char siew rice shop.

Wybie: It's easy to turn the clock backwards - instead of making Protons, we can make do with bullock-carts, close down all duty-free shops that sell liquor at KLIA, Langkawi, etc, and better still, wear banana leaves instead of Armani suits, our people will all certainly go to heaven faster than anybody else. Not even the Amish can catch up with us.
