The family of the late Teoh Beng Hock does not appear to ever be satisfied with whatever the police have done for them, laments inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.

“When were they ever satisfied? I think they have never said they are satisfied with what we have done.

“I have never heard them saying: ‘Wah, I'm satisfied that the police have done this and that’. Never!” he told a press conference in Cheras today.

Khalid ( left ) was asked to respond to the unhappiness of Teoh’s family that cops were re-looking at the former political aide’s alleged suicide note which they claim is false.

Instead, the family wants cops to look into the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who they say are responsible for his death.

Teoh was called in by the MACC on July 15, 2009 as a witness in a corruption case but was found dead the next morning after plunging from the 14th to the fifth floor.

MACC at the time disclaimed responsibility for Teoh’s death and a suicide note emerged three months later, which only added to the mystery as Teoh was to register his marriage to Soh Cher Wei the day after his untimely death and already had their honeymoon and wedding reception planned.

The Coroner’s Court in 2011 ruled that Teoh was driven to suicide by intensive questioning, but this was overturned by the Court of Appeal on Sept 5, 2014 which ruled out suicide and said MACC was liable for Teoh’s death. It also ordered a reinvestigation.

Khalid said police have already formed a task force to look at the latest court ruling and is working closely with the Attorney-General’s Chambers to reinvestigate the case.

“Among others, we are looking at are the final moments - what actually happened before the body (Teoh) was found. Who he met and talked to.

“We are also looking at the background of the whole case including reports and alleged misconduct which had been reported before this, that involved the deceased,” he said.

A royal commission of inquiry into Teoh’s death had labelled the three MACC officers who questioned Teoh, namely Hishammuddin Hashim, Arman Alies and Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus “an arrogant leader, a bully and an abuser”.

None of the trio has faced any action to date.
