Having escaped censure on the charge of misleading the Dewan Rakyat, Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan now wants opposition MPs to apologise.

Top of his list is Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

"The opposition leader should apologise to the Dewan Rakyat for mistakenly saying that 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) was awarded “RM3 billion for RM11 billion".

"(The name of the project is Project 3B. It is not worth RM3 billion," Ahmad said on Twitter.

He also called on Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua (right) to apologise for accusing 1MDB subsidiaries of not submitting their financial statements to the Registrar of Companies.

"All the statements have been submitted!"

Last week, Ahmad and BN’s Lenggong MP Shamsul Anuar Nasarah told reporters that they will move a motion for Anwar and Pua to face the rights and privileges committee for misleading the House on those matters.

However, neither MPs tabled the motion.

Earlier today, Ahmad apologised to the House for mistakenly leaving out six words in his reply in Parliament on 1MDB.

"I admit my mistake in leaving out the six extra words, which have caused this misunderstanding.

"I had no intention to mislead the House. Sorry and thank you," Ahmad had said.

Corrected himself

Ahmad was defending himself following a motion by Rafizi Ramli (PKR-Pandan).

Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia ruled that Ahmad had no intention to mislead as he had, soon after, corrected himself in a press release.

Pandikar ( left ) thus ruled that Ahmad need not face the rights and privileges committee.

Ahmad told the Dewan Rakyat on Nov 6 that there is no support letter from the government for 1MDB undertaking RM9.6 billion in bonds.

He corrected the statement in a press release two days later.

Ahmad made two corrections to the statements he made in Parliament on Nov 6.

He said when he said there "is no letter whatsoever", it should mean "there are no other guarantee letters whatsoever".

The second, "the letter of support does not exist" was corrected to "the letter of support giving such guarantees does not exist".
