PARLIAMENT Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia today poured cold water on an opposition motion calling on the government to table the report by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on immigrants in Sabah.

Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin had written to the speaker on Monday regarding the motion.

However, he stood up just before Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tabled a motion to endorse the white paper on the Islamic State (IS) threat today, insisting that he wanted to read out his rejected motion for the record.

At this, Pandikar ( right ) said the non-tabling of the RCI report in Parliament was already discussed yesterday.

"Sit down or I will give you a recess (merehatkan)," he said sternly.

Speaking to the press later, Hanipa insisted that the speaker's reason for rejecting his motion was unjustified.

"I fail to understand (the reason), he (speaker) said it was already discussed yesterday but what we are asking is for the report to be tabled.

"Perhaps because the White Paper is in Parliament today, so he did not want to sidetrack to other issues," said Hanipa.

Yesterday, Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the report will not be tabled in Parliament as the Sabah leaders needed to be consulted first.

Several MPs have expressed unhappiness after the government announced that the report will only be made public next month, after the Parliament sitting concludes.

The report is much awaited for throughout the inquiry, much has been exposed on the many covert ways illegal immigrants were given Malaysian identification cards.
