Isma, remember the words of the Prophet?

YOURSAY ‘Let me draw you to the saying of Prophet Muhammad: And my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens...

Isma: Good for Muslims to be 'sensitive' to threats

Toffeesturn: I do not intend to criticise Muslims, I do not intend to belittle them either, but then the word ‘Allah’ predates Islam and was used in the Middle East by all - pagans, Christians and later Muslims.

In Arabic, it means God, and it is adapted into Malay. Now after centuries, the Muslims in Malaysia - not all of them but a selective vociferous minority - have decided to take it onto themselves to deny the Christians this right.

Let me draw them to a saying of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):

“This is a message from Muhammad son of Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.

"Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by God, I hold out against anything that displeases them.

“No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses.

"Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.

“No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.

"Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation of Muslims is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).”

Do you deny this Isma?

Ksn: Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman, it is men like you, the fanatics and extremists, who do not understand the true teachings of Islam.

Have you for a moment thought how your views are seen, laughed at, and ridiculed by the people?

Have you been reading the statements from sensible Malaysians about you besides the readers’ comments in Malaysiakini ?

If you have any logic and intelligence, you will know that you are nothing but a laughing stock among Malaysians. God, what else can I say?

Unafraid: He grits his teeth. He looks up to the sky. His face a mirror of determination.

But alas, this man is to be most pitied. He is totally deluded and lives under a cloud of hallucination all the time. He wakes up every day believing that his religion is under attack and he needs to rise up to defend it.

If he doesn't, Islam will collapse. So he sows hatred, falsely accuse others of plots that are non-existent and plant fear into the psyche of his own people to generate a siege mentality. He thinks that the non-Muslims in this country has got nothing better to do than to insult and bring down his race.

So he is paranoid all the time. In a nutshell, that's what this man lives for. What kind of a life is this?

Equatorial Man: I wonder who is criticising his religion. He cannot be talking about Islam. Actually, I wonder if his religion is really Islam - as I was told, Muslims are taught to speak the truth and to live harmoniously with others.

Tao Student: As a Chinese Malaysian who travels round Malaysia for the past 38 years, mixing freely with fellows Malaysians of all races, I have never come across any threat or misunderstanding among us.

No hatred at all. The most discussed topics were corruption and misused of power.

Anak Negara: What twisted logic is Abdullah Zaik trying to expound? From all that has appeared in the media, no one has criticised Islam as a religion.

But these bigots created phantoms and imaginary enemies out of thin air and then bash all and sundry that Islam is under attack.

It is organisations like Isma and Perkasa that give Islam such a bad name with their hatred and war-mongering against anyone who disputes their flawed logic.

It’s time for good Muslims to rehabilitate these extremists in their midst, as they are the real threat to Islam.

Multi Racial: I totally agree with Abdullah Zaik. Muslims should be more sensitive - don't allow these racists and extremists to set the agenda. Isma does not represent the majority of Muslims in this country.

Instead of focusing our energy on fighting corruption, creating jobs, improving our efficiency and developing this country, these racists and extremists rather spend their time harping on non-issues such as non-Muslims cannot use the word ‘Allah’.

Lionheart: A scenario like this is a mutation of social problems arising from the loss of popularity by the ruling administration.

When administration is weak, all have equal right to say and religion is brought into play. Each unit even tries to outdo one another and outshines its master.

National resources are utilised not for governing the state but for entrenching the power of ruling administration. Planning, administration and governing are all secondary. Instead favouritism, cronyism and self-serving are reality and practice of the day.

Stop press! All blue-blooded right-thinking Malaysians should be conscripted to wage a “holy war” for humanity, democracy and freedom.

Each morning, it hurts me and many Malaysians that Malaysia has fallen into this dark age, and we are drifting into orphanage.
