Former MIC supremo S Samy Vellu has performed many feats over his long career but Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has just added one more to the list.

Speaking at a seminar on Tamil Studies at Universiti Malaya today, Najib pointed out that Samy Vellu's hair seems to be growing and growing with age.

"On a lighter note, as Samy Vellu gets older, his hair gets thicker and blacker," said Najib, leaving the audience in stiches. "I wish I could say the same about myself".

Samy Vellu, who helmed MIC for 31 years, was the organising chairperson of the conference, while Najib was the guest of honour.

During his speech, Najib said that the Indian community in Malaysia had contributed significantly to the progress of the country and it had progressed in tandem with the development of the nation.

“Malaysian Indians are the sons and daughters of this soil. The government has always made it its responsibility to ensure the well-being of all its citizens," he said.
