Still waiting to see Dr M in purple jumpsuit

YOURSAY ‘Mahathir must be relishing the adulation and 'immunity' so far.’

Cops to first study police reports against Dr M

Lin Wenquan: “Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said police will look through the reports lodged against Dr Mahathir Mohamad to determine if there was any offence committed... We will go through all reports and identify if there are any offences disclosed.”

Should one be looking into the purported 'seditious' statements TDM (Mahathir) made so far in the public domain or sieve through the reports for evidence?

Excessive twitting does wonders to straight thinking. TDM must be relishing the adulation and 'immunity' so far. Umno and its cohorts are at wits end as to what to do with him.

Firestone: Do you really think the IGP will send in 20 men in balaclava and submachine guns, handcuff Mahathir and display him in public in purple jumpsuit with the word ‘Lokap’ on it?

The IGP might not be very smart but he is also not so stupid. He knows which side of his bread is buttered...

The Mask: Indeed, the IGP needs time to go through the report to find whether there has been any offence committed.

If it had been Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli or any other opposition member, do you think the IGP will need time to look into the report to look for any offence?

Anonymous$&@?: From previous arrests and non-arrests of politicians/NGO activists, people are wondering if there are two set of laws in Malaysia - one for the common folks and one for Umnoputras.

Ib: Stop the pretense as the rakyat are smarter than most of the police force. How about acting on the findings of the RCI (royal commission of inquiry) on the giving of citizenship to foreigners in Sabah?

Treason is what it is. If you act, some Umno members will be caught. If you don't act, the Sabahans are going to dump Umno.

Speak for All: IGP, you should arrest Mahathir like you ordered your men to arrest the opposition politicians the minute a police report was made by Umno goons for so-called seditious statements.

You should keep Mahathir overnight in the lock-up like the others you kept  recently with lightning speed.

Trublumalaysian: This statement says it all and it’s inevitable: "He (Khalid) added that should it be discovered that there are no grounds for an investigation, the police would close the file on the matter."

Expect more fireworks from Dr M

Aries46: What I don't understand is PM Najib Razak's repeated clamour that he did not know Altantuya Shaariibuu, which was also the subject of his oath in the mosque previously.

Who is accusing him of knowing her and how does knowing her implicate him?

What the people are asking is why the investigations did not establish the motive for the murder as both the convicted murderers also did not know who Altantuya was when they took her away on that fateful night.

And since convicted murderer Sirul Azhar Umar now claims that he was merely carrying out an order, Mahathir raised the question as to who issued the order. Indeed, a perfectly legitimate question.

What puzzles the people is why the motive was stonewalled during the trial and up till now, amidst Sirul's claims that those who had an interest in having Altantuya dead are enjoying their freedom.

Najib has sidestepped answering Mahathir's slew of allegations against him claiming that he is answerable to the people, but ironically these are questions that the people are asking.

Score: Mahathir 1, Najib 0.

The Mask: The TV3 interview was a sham. And the interviewer was just a stooge. When the PM did not reply directly to his question, or was vague in his answer, he did not pursue the issue, but went on to the next question.

For instance, Najib’s connection with Abdul Razak Baginda and in turn Abdul Razak's connection with Altantuya, should be pursued further.

Just swearing on the Quran did not answer all the questions posed by Mahathir and the rakyat. The PM has just riled up the Tun more, especially with his patronising comments.

JD Lovrenciear: Najib, whether he likes it or otherwise and whether his entourage can concur or not, has pressed the panic button for Umno and its allies.

This is predictable given an outfit that has stayed at the helm for close to 60 years - by hook or by crook. You cannot reinvent an old and worn wheel.

The Analyser: Was this the final scene of Act III?  A great climax, but I doubt it. The Umno spin doctors have left the door wide open for a sequel - The Great Mahathir-Najib Standoff II.

Malaysians are already lining up to buy tickets and journalists are sharpening their pencils in readiness.
