YOURSAY ‘Isn't the amendment to Sedition Act supposed to lock up racists?’
Isma flays 'coward' Najib, MB over cross protest
Wira: So PM Najib Razak. What are you waiting? Please nab Isma deputy president Abdul Rahman Dali for sedition.
Don't say one thing and do another. Isn't the amendment to the Sedition Act supposed to lock up racists like Abdul Rahman for a minimum of three years?
Ipohcrite: If what Abdul Rahman has mouthed off isn't sedition in its most unadulterated form, then the word ‘sedition’ has absolutely no meaning at all.
But then again, the Isma chaps seem untouchable. I wonder why. Sigh!
Swipenter: Where is the evidence that Christian evangelists are proselytising or converting Muslims to be Christians?
Even Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is known to be very pro-Malays/Muslims, would have cracked down on religious extremism when he was in office. For that I gave him credit.
Paradoxically he always used race and religion to his advantage, but he knew when to crack his whip against extremism. He possessed a kind of devious leadership, not Najib however.
The latter just let the religious extremists and racial chauvinists run free and wild. Now we are paying the price for it with the arrest of many Islamic State (IS) sympathisers.
David Dass: There are no earthly or heavenly rewards given to Christians who convert others to Christianity. There is no modern-day Christian crusade taking place.
Of course, there are conversions taking place. There well may be Muslims converting to Christianity - not necessarily in Malaysia but certainly in some parts of the world. As there would be Christians and others converting to Islam.
Some convert as a result of their own search for salvation and others may have been approached by someone. But no one is coerced to convert to Christianity or 'bribed' to become Christians.
Surely converts who are duped, deceived, coerced or bribed to convert from one faith to another cannot be good coverts for any religion. What is the motive behind conversion? To save someone's soul?
Christians believe that conversion to Christianity must be genuine - it must be deep and real and it must be founded on truth and free consent. Any other conversion would be fraudulent and invalid.
Most Christians take the view that it is behaviour that determines whether someone is saved not simply proclamations of faith or adherence to rituals.
SteveOh: For too long Muslims in Malaysia have been sold the lies of ignorance and falsehood about Christianity and what Christians do so you see a group like Isma spreading the same lies they have bought themselves.
What 'Christianisation' and 'growing aggressiveness of (Christian) aggressiveness’ are they spinning? Islam requires 'proof' before anyone can make an accusation of another, otherwise it becomes slander - a sin.
So far there have only been malicious rumours and blatant lies against Christians. If there was any Christianisation agenda, why wasn't the country Christianised under British rule?
Christians are taught to 'snatch others from the fires of hell'. They give hopeless sinners hope. They feed the hungry, help Aids sufferers, and do other good works.
Christians in Malaysia have been conditioned by the government to leave the Malays alone and they do. So why are the dogs barking? Why falsely accuse Najib and Selangor MB Azmin Ali, who are fairer and more courageous than their critics?
Not Smart: Isma, you may be partially right to condemn Muslim leaders (with federal powers) on this issue. At the same time, Muslims should not depend on their leaders for the weakening of their faith as it should be on their efforts and their Creator.
Today there are so many unresolved issues plaguing the community, such as drug abuse, illegitimate child birth, ‘mat rempit’, unemployment and so on and so forth.
Something has to be done urgently to handle these as well. Isma, don’t be like a tortoise that only comes out from its shell to ‘cari makan’.
Ratbatblue: There are confusing statements by the state government and the local authorities - the MB says the cross goes back to its original place, the local bigwigs say the church did not obtain due permission to display the cross in public.
Logically, the local council should be easily over-ridden by the highest authority in the state. But by the way things are unfolding, the whole issue is turning out to be more political than religious in nature.
As everything else in Malaysia, religion is being freely used for political purposes: in this case, to discredit the local council and the state government.
Grey Matter: What Isma is saying is abandon the constitution and forget the rights of the Christians. What Isma is proposing is unconstitutional. Next, they will say let’s abandon the constitutional monarchy as it is un-Islamic.
If the government does not nip Isma in the bud, Malaysia will down the path of IS where no rule of law exists. What Islam teaches is tolerance and what Isma is saying is un-Islamic and against the teachings of the Prophet.
Adam Ningau: There are mosques everywhere but nobody is being proselytised because of seeing the minarets or hearing the ‘azan’ time and again.
Why can't these ultra-sensitive Muslims think rationally?
