YOURSAY ‘Ultimately it is not the candidate's race that is important, but the party.’

PAS Supporters’ Wing ready to take on Guan Eng in Air Putih

Ozzie Jo: I think PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is way off the target. So what if PAS fields a non-Malay candidate against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in his Air Putih state constituency.

Ultimately it is not the candidate's race that is important, but the party. The people will not vote for a party that they no longer trust.

Why are they so focused on the race, colour or creed of the candidate? It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white as long as it is trustworthy.

Kennchan: I think Guan Eng nowadays is a bit arrogant in Penang. Just remember there are always ups and downs in situation like this. So be humble in what you say in public.

Anonnona: Kennchan, I think he has earned the right to be a little bit arrogant. He didn't get to where he is today by being a keyboard warrior like you and me.

P Dev Anand Pillai: What most of the commentators here don't seem to understand is, it is not about being a keyboard warrior or what not, it is about being able to express one's self.

There is no room for alternative views in the mainstream media so people turn to the net, it is a worldwide phenomenon.

Many who comment here are also very active in their fields of endeavour so it is not right, immature and unwise to dismiss them as computer nerds who sit in front of the computer.

On Guan Eng, why is it that when he comments and challenges, it is seen as rude and boastful but the same is not accorded to the acclaimed 'great and revered' leaders of the BN?

It looks like if a Chinese leader challenges, it is seen as being rude but if a Malay leader challenges and stands his ground, it is seen as being brave, courageous and bold. What hypocrites!

Haveagreatday: This apple polisher (PAS Supporters' Wing chairperson N Balasubramaniam) is honest enough.

But to follow blindly a leader like Abdul Hadi and his band of wolves in religious robes shows a lack of political acumen.

Bring it on, PAS or whatever sub-contracted loser, the rakyat will tell you what we think of you deceitful traitors.

RKR: I feel sorry for Abdul Hadi. He has to use some unknown minion to fight for PAS.

Even if Abdul Hadi himself were to contest against Guan Eng, he will surely lose on DAP's turf, especially with the current political mood.

Gunnerrun: Do you know the struggles of this man, Guan Eng, to become what he is today? Eighteen months in prison for defending an underaged girl. Then another five years barred from contesting in any election, party position or political activity.

Tell me now, is there is any PAS or Umno member who is willing to go through this? Don't kid yourself, you will not batter down this man, no matter what; his resolve is different.

Hadi: PAS will not join new opposition pact

Anonymous #33227154: Religion has no place in politics. Once you mix religion with politics, all the greed and lust for power and money will come into play and tarnish the religion.

So PAS should quit from politics entirely and focus on religion exclusively. Indeed, PAS will never be able to represent a multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia.

Not Smart: “We cannot be adrift. The new Pakatan merely wants to win elections. They have no plans to uphold Islam,” said Abdul Hadi.

Abdul Hadi, if the current ruling government had the intention to uphold Islam, they would have done it 50 years ago.

Further, they would not be dragging their feet to implement hudud with all sorts of excuses for the nation as a whole and instead trying it out only in Kelantan.

For this also, they have a lot of excuses. Have they ever had a plan to uphold Islam? Their plan, too, is to win election and grab power. A primary school kid can analyse the situation.

You are only giving lame excuses as your dream is only to form ‘Umpasno’ to achieve your personal ambition to be a minister before your time is up. Shame on you.

Anonymous#007: So, Abdul Hadi, what exactly was PAS' agenda when it was first formed, when 75 percent of Malaysians were not Muslims?

And just so you understand, politicians and political parties are there to win elections. And finally, nobody will trust a politician disguised as a 'religious leader', especially one who has shown to be vindictive, racist and would not hesitate to backstab his allies and work with the enemy to achieve his own selfish and evil goals.

I do not believe any religion teaches this.

Ipohcrite: Abdul Hadi's statement that PAS would not join the new coalition is the best news I've heard all year.

The new coalition would now certainly be in a better position to unseat the ruling BN government without the albatross on its neck.
