The PAS Supporters' Wing (DHPP) is prepared to take on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in his Air Putih state constituency in the next general election.

DHPP chairperson N Balasubramaniam said they are ready if PAS decides to field a candidate in the constituency.

“We are ready. We will follow whatever the party instructs. Yes, (we are ready to contest in Lim’s constituency).

“We have lost in elections many times, so we have no fear,” Balasubramaniam said when contacted.

Lim yesterday invited PAS to contest at Air Putih, after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the Islamist party intends to field non-Malay candidates in constituencies that DAP will contest in the 14th general election.

DHPP in the 13th general election fielded candidates in the Ayer Hitam parliament constituency and Tiram state constituency in Johor and Asahan state constituency in Malacca. All three candidates lost.

As such, Balasubramaniam said he is thankful that Hadi continues to place his trust in DHPP for the next election.

He said DHPP has already identified several constituencies that it would like to contest in the 14th general election.

“But we cannot tell you yet. Let the president make the announcement. But, we are ready,” he added.
