So is the red shirt rally illegal or not?

YOURSAY ‘So far I have not heard ‘threat against democracy’ being bandied about.’

Websites promoting red rally risk MCMC block 'if illegal'

Basically: Come on, enough with this ‘wayang’ (show). Everyone knows the ones behind or encouraging this red shirt rally.

The Bersih 4 rally called for a clean government. The red shirts are a bunch of goons claiming racial superiority. They are worlds apart.

Strangely, so far I have not heard the words ‘threat against democracy’ being bandied about. Just like the goons who stormed the Penang assembly, would they be eventually found guilty for trespassing?

Anonymous #44199885: Bersih 4, whose sole purpose was to ‘Save Malaysia’, was deemed and declared illegal but this bunch of racists who - while they have the right to assemble - are provocative in both words and deed are not deemed nor declared illegal but given tacit approval by Umno and its ministers.

I would never have believed that this would happen in Malaysia. This is a grave mistake and one that the public will not forgive come the next GE.

SMC77: Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak cannot read. Deputy inspector-general of police Noor Rashid Ibrahim has already said the red shirt rally is illegal .

If the gathering is illegal, how can the website associated with the illegal gathering be legal? Malaysian ministers clearly lack common sense.

Fair&Just: Only those outside of this country do not know the nature and truth behind all their remarks.

After decades of bullying, they have morphed into a species where they feel entitled to do anything they wantonly and blatantly felt like doing without regard for the others and normal standards of humanity.

Out of Time: ‘Maruah’ (dignity) would come naturally if one refuses to accept bribe and does one’s duty without fear or favour.

Currently, it seems that certain people in authority would do their sworn duty only after payment (bribe) or from fear. Where is the so-called pride in their work?

The only pride I see is the pride of one’s need to be bribed before I lift my pen to do my sworn duty.

PKR hands roses to Low Yat traders ahead of red shirts rally

Anonymous#007: This is a welcome move by PKR in a country divided by Umno's racist and religious policies.

And to all the tenants and workers at Low Yat Plaza of all race and religion, please continue to work together like you did to apprehend the alleged thief, and stand up for and defend your fellow friends against thugs and bullies, especially those who are intent on creating and stirring up racial tension.

Pahatian: These are like the true Malays I knew during my younger days and also the beginning of my working life as compared to those today who are bastardised by their so-called leaders.

Carry on with the mission of goodwill, peace and harmony for the sake of our beloved nation.

Neutral Point: I would suggest PKR Malay members should all get together at Low Yat Plaza on Sept 16 to show that the majority of Malays don't concur with the bunch of Umno-paid Malays for such a rally and also send a message to Umno that its days are numbered.

FellowMalaysian: Sleek move, PKR. Seize the opportunity and the moment and it is never a better time to re-visit Low Yat Plaza since last month’s racial fracas than now.

I hail this effort by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Fuziah Salleh, Wong Chen, William Leong and Sim Tze Tzin.

Though PKR and the Pakatan Rakyat alliance may not have the authority or clout to provide any meaningful protection in case the red shirt rally crowd goes berserk and out of control, a reassuring visit by the MPs and assembypersons will certainly help to calm nerves especially among the traders.

The media has reported that many traders are prepared to close their outlets and take a day off on Sept 16.

That would be a shame for the nation as this would mean the red shirt rally has succeeded in their fear-mongering campaign but in truth, the racially-tinged and race-based instigations propounded by the red shirt rally-goers will only help to bring our battered economy closer to a failed state.

Zunar announces new book - 'Sapuman - Man of Steal'

Clearwater: Satire in Malaysia can land you in trouble. Will this be considered criminal defamation or an ‘act against parliamentary democracy’ by PM Najib Razak?

Or will DC Comics get uptight and sue Zunar for bringing their superhero into disrepute with the intended pun on the man of steel?

SemoLina: Cartoonist Zunar even makes a joke while pricing his book. Count me in, Zunar, and if the police stop the launch I wouldn't be too sore.

Maybe I'll wear my Bersih 4 T-shirt just to show the red-shirted ones we are still very much around. Up, Up and away Sapuman - the Man of Steal.

Clever Voter: I don’t think the authorities have the sense of humour to appreciate this.

If they can find yellow T-shirts a national threat, this can be even more provocative.
