Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) expects more than 100,000 members, - including those from PAS - to join the newly-registered party by year-end.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said so far, the party had received overwhelming response from various political parties in the country.
"We have been distributing PAN membership application forms nationwide and expect the number to rise until the end of this year.
"Today, Amanah received 500 membership applications from people in Melaka, including PAS members, while in Johor, there were 5,000 membership applications.
In Kedah, Amanah received 2,721 applications," he told reporters after launching Malacca Amanah today.
Also present were Malacca Amanah chairperson Adly Zahari and Duyong state assemblyperson Goh Leong San of DAP, who was also former opposition leader of the Malacca state assembly.
While launching the party in Temerloh, Pahang, Mohamad Sabu reiterated the positive outlook for the party, saying encouraging feedback from west coast states had fuelled its belief of achieving the targeted number of members.
Pahang Amanah chairperson Dr Hamzah Jaafar and Semantan state assemblyperson Syed Hamid Syed Muhammad were also present during the launch.
At the launch, Syed Hamid announced that he had ceased to be PAS member as he had officially joined Amanah, but said the new party would continue to cooperate with other parties, including PAS and Pakatan Rakyat.
Amanah, previously known as Gerakan Harapan Baru, registered its new name with the Registrar of Societies.
